All Sessions include two weeks where our Montessori Elementary Teachers will present a special topic for the week and a two hour, morning Montessori work period so that students can continue to learn throughout the summer and prepare for the upcoming school year.
Session I (June 15- July 2)
Week 1 - June 15 - 19. Creative Art Network (CAN) - In this dynamic class duo students will learn how to make comic books and how to draw in 3d. For comics they will apply character design and story planning to their final comic book. For 3d drawing they transform cubes, prisms, cylinders, spheres, cones, and pyramids into 3D vehicles, cities, robots, letters and much more! Skills in outlining, shading, and texturing will be taught through the use of traditional art supplies (pen, pencil, and paper). Watch the commercials at www.cancancancan.com. All drawing skill levels are welcome.
Week 2 & 3 - June 22 - July 3 Montessori AM/STEM PM
During our second and third weeks, we will be starting each day with a two hour Montessori work period with Upper Elementary Teacher, Ms. Marissa Roecks, followed by an afternoon of hands-on STEM projects with our science instructor, Ms. Indu Yadav.
Session II (July 6-24)
Week 1 - July 6 - 10. Montessori AM/Art & Drawing PM
Our first and third weeks will start each day with a two hour Montessori work period followed by extra outdoor time and an afternoon of art and drawing with Lower Elementary Head Teacher and resident artist, Mr. David Repyak.
Week 2 - July 13 - 17. Creative Art Network (CAN): LEGO Animation
CAN returns to teach an exciting stop-motion animation class using LEGOS. In line with our health and safety procedures, parents will need to provide their own set of LEGOs for the LEGO stop-motion animation class. They can bring any type of LEGO they prefer. Mr. Allenbaugh will provide coaching on how to animate characters (minifigures, etc.) and objects (cars, spaceships, etc.). Please provide them with a container that can close with the lid when LEGOs are not in use. Students can keep their LEGOs in class or bring them home each day. If students drop legos they will need to retrieve them safely and this precaution will be covered on the first day of class. Students will not be able to share legos with others under any circumstances.
Week 3 - July 20 - July 24. Montessori AM/Art & Woodworking PM
Our third week will start each day with a two hour Montessori work period followed by extra outdoor time and an afternoon of art and drawing with Lower Elementary Head Teacher and resident artist, Mr. David Repyak. Former BMS Teacher, Mr. Meyer will also join to teach woodworking!
Session III (July 27- August 14)
